“The Old Island Restoration Foundation has just recently been given custody of this interesting house, and although restoration has not yet begun – the Foundation felt that it would be of interest, therefore has been added as an “extra” on the house tours. Complete restoration of the property, as well as the creation of a large garden in the manner of the early Key West days will require some time. We hope that this will eventually become a historical and important property. The building – so topicality of early Key West architecture, was erected in 1823 of pine and cedar. At the time the house was built, the kitchen was separate from the main house and is still intact as is its large fireplace over which the food was cooked.”
